Flagholm
Three people looking at one laptop

A change for a few people first.

Feature flags for when you don't want a change to hit everyone at once.

Three people, one screen. The change is on for a few of them. If the number stays quiet, it goes to everyone. If it moves the wrong way, the switch comes off.

Flagholm is that switch. A team ships the code, and the change stays off until someone turns it on for a few people. One number says whether it stays. Nobody books a meeting to find out.

Flagholm is how a team rolls a change out without turning it into a meeting.

We keep the rule next to the code, and the result next to the person who shipped it. The flag is not a project plan. It is the switch. When the change is in for everyone, the flag comes out. Nothing is left running because nobody remembers who turned it on.

What we will and will not turn on

A gift note stays off until someone names the number that would turn it on. We are not adding a flag so a meeting can invent that.

Receipt copy is the one that is out: half of orders, tickets flat.

The delivery window came back off. Late orders rose.

That is the job. The three calls, in full. How a change moves.
